Daughter - Get Lucky (Daft Punk Cover)

thelatebus:

If you haven’t heard Daughter’s cover of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” then what are you waiting for, silly? The London-native indie band puts their own twist on Pharell’s vocals to make a soft/subtle rendition of the original. They use a slow and steady build up that will put anyone in a dreamlike state. Listen responsibly. Thanks, Lily for telling me about this!

I wrote all of this stuff down. It comes lyrically out of my head. It's not a specific day-to-day account, like a diary entry. I don't want to turn everything into songs. All of the songs are definitely a part of me and what I've been thinking: my opinions and my interests. A lot of the songs are from how I feel about things. I quite like writing about death. From that perspective, I don't know what happens when you die. I've never been dead. I'm just interested. - (Elena Tonra on where her inspiration comes from)

If I wasn’t here, maybe everything would be better for everyone else.
Elena Tonra (from the band, Daughter) explaining the final line of their song Smother, “I sometimes wish I’d stayed inside my mother, never to come out.” (via thevvildyouth)
